Neneng was recorded as the 14th tropical cyclone to affect the Philippines in 2026, and the third for the month of August, following Tropical Depression Luis and Tropical Storm Maymay (Kujira). PAGASA also reported updates on other weather systems beyond PAR. A tropical depression that formed in the West Philippine Sea on August 18 has since exited the bureau's monitoring attention as of 8 AM Thursday. In contrast, there remains an ongoing watch for a tropical storm globally referred to as Saudel, located 2,745 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, tracking north-northwest at 15 km/h, with sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts reaching 90 km/h.

According to PAGASA Weather Specialist John Manalo, Saudel is anticipated to approach the northeast corner of PAR around August 23-24, potentially enhancing the southwest monsoon.
